ABOUT OUR NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY SESSIONS

Lily Red Studio is a boutique photography studio located in Washington Park (WashPark), Denver, CO.
Owner and principal photographer is Suzy Rohan.

We offer three options for newborn photography sessions: Baby-Only Mini Newborn Session, Baby & Parent(s) Mini Newborn Session, Full-Length Newborn Session

How does the newborn photography session work?

Here at Lily Red Studio, we offer three different newborn photography session options, all of which will take place at our Wash Park photography studio:

Baby-Only Mini Newborn Session (one (1) look, 10 images) - $385
Baby & Parent(s) Mini Newborn Session (one (1) look, 15 images) - $485
Full-Length Newborn Session (three (3) looks, 20 images, includes parent(s)/sibling(s)/pet(s)) - $675

The Full-Length Newborn Session is open to the newborn baby and can also include both/either parent, any sibling(s), and pets (in other words, the whole family is welcome to join!). We accept both weekday and weekend bookings.

WHAT IS A “LOOK” AND WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN newborn PHOTOGRAPHY PACKAGES?

A “look” for a newborn session may include dressing your baby in a diaper cover with or without a swaddle or sweater and includes the use of hats or headbands.

In the Baby-Only Mini Newborn Session, one (1) look for your baby is included - the shot list for this type of session also includes an up-close series of their eyelashes, nose, mouth, feet, and hands.

In the Baby & Parent(s) Mini Newborn Session, the shot list includes one (1) look for your baby, an up-close series of their eyelashes, nose, mouth, feet, and hands, AND a series of images of your baby alone with each parent & with both parents and baby all-together.

In the Full-Length Newborn Session, up to three (3) looks are included. This means that you can change outfits several times during your session and get a variety of shots with your entire family. This session type gives you lots of images to choose from.

newborn PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION LENGTH

The Baby-Only Mini Newborn Session usually takes about 40-50 minutes.

The Baby & Parent(s) Mini Newborn Session usually takes about 1-1.5 hours.

The Full-Length Newborn Session usually takes 2-2.5 hours. This session type is very laid back and allows for multiple feedings.

About Lily Red Photography Studio

All newborn photography sessions take place at Lily Red’s photography studio located at 455 South Williams Street, Denver, CO 80209 (located in the East Wash Park neighborhood).

Many clients come to us from the Denver Metro neighborhoods and the Denver Foothills.

Our photography studio includes a bathroom where you can freshen up as well as a changing room for outfit changes. We also have basic refreshments, speakers for us to play music during our session, and free street parking.

Hair and Makeup: optional add-on

Professional hair and makeup are available as an add-on to your photography session, the rate is an additional $150. This service is provided by a separate vendor/makeup artist and is subject to their availability.

Image selection as part of your session

After your newborn photography session, you will be sent a gallery & slide show featuring 50+ images from which you will select the number of images included with your session fee.

Baby-Only Mini Newborn Sessions include 10 images
Baby & Parent(s) Mini Newborn Sessions include 15 images
Full-Length Newborn Sessions include 20 images

You may upgrade to a higher-level collection at any time that includes additional digital files and/or product credits and albums.

IMAGE DELIVERY

Any images selected from your gallery will be available as a direct download through your gallery. Images will be in JPEG format.

Digital images can be stored on your computer/as files on your smartphone. They can easily be shared via text/email or uploaded to social media (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, etc.).

You may also choose to purchase print copies in various sizes or create a custom album or custom product through your gallery. Purchases made through your gallery are shipped to any address you select at checkout. Shipping is billed as a separate charge in your gallery checkout.

PRICING AND PAYMENT

The session fees are required to be paid in full to reserve your date and are non-refundable:

Baby-Only Mini Newborn Session is $385
Baby & Parent(s) Mini Newborn Session is $485
Full-Length Newborn Session is $675

Bookings and payments are all digital and are submitted through a booking page link that will be sent to you when you are ready to book your session.

FAQs

I suggest reaching out to book your session at the beginning of your second trimester.
Newborn sessions ideally take place within the first seventeen days of your baby’s arrival (your baby will be sleepy and easy to swaddle during this timeframe).

For Maternity clients:
Please contact me at the beginning of your second trimester to get your date booked. Your session should take place between 28-35 weeks.

For Newborn clients:
Please contact me at the beginning of your second trimester to get your date booked. I always leave room in my schedule for newborns clients since the exact date of your session may vary depending on your baby’s arrival. We will adjust your date if your baby arrives early or little later.
Newborn sessions ideally take place within the first two weeks of your baby’s arrival, but can happen a little later depending on your preference.
All clients receive guidance on what to wear and how to prep for your your session and Maternity, Newborn and Family session clients also receive access to my wardrobe (just for the ladies). You will also recieve a pricelist of the Collections and products that I offer as well as reminders about your session date, what to bring and detailed directions if we’re meeting at an outdoor location for your session.

Every client also receives a style guide tailored to their session in their welcome email after booking.
I've been a professional photographer since 2009. I'm also the mother to two girls under the age of eight. There is no situation that I haven’t encountered before. My experience with newborns, toddlers and kids means that I can work quickly and efficiently while keeping it fun. I believe that photo sessions should be a joyful time for family bonding, not a chore. And I am confident in my ability to make that happen. I promise!
My photo sessions are designed to be easy. My entire workflow has been designed with you and your busy life in mind.

Galleries will be available for viewing within two weeks of your session date.  Any digital downloads that are part of your Session Fee or Collection will be available through your gallery. Galleries stay live for 30 days.
I describe my style of shooting as a mix between classic and lifestyle - I pose my clients for certain shots and then get those in-between, candid lifestyle type shots when you are interacting with your loved ones. I help you with posing whenever needed (where to stand, placement of hands, angle adjustments for your head/shoulders). I will give you direction whenever needed. For babies, my style is to leave a portion of my session for swaddled shots and any shots where you might want to have your baby in a specific outfit. For baby details (eye lashes, fingers, toes, lips), your baby can wear a diaper (with diaper cover).
My editing style is light and airy with skin softening and saturation adjustment applied as needed.
If you would like to include nursing poses with your baby, please let me know. I am happy to leave time for nursing and include a set of these portraits with the final images in your gallery images.
Most of my style and editing approach is based on full-color portraits. Occasionally, I do throw a black-and-white portrait into the mix when an image calls for it.
All clients sign a portrait agreement and while Lily Red Studio retains the copyright to all images, I do respect a client’s request in certain cases to allow them to keep some/all images private - particularly as this relates to boudoir-style maternity sessions or if privacy is necessary due to a client’s type of employment.
I help you with posing whenever needed (where to stand, placement of hands, angle adjustments for your head/shoulders). I will give you directions whenever needed and also provide a style guide to take the guesswork out of dressing/styling yourself for your session.
